CONSUMER MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

As a consumer in today's marketplace you may be lucky . . . You may
  • be one of those who have never experienced hours of frustrating phone calls to automated "attendants", some are programmed to get you to hang up before you talk with a real person about
    1. a product that doesn't work
    2. a repair that wasn't fixed
    3. a guarantee that wasn't honored
  • never have been dissatisfied because of
    1. unprofessional or discourteous service
    2. representations made in advertisements or by salespeople which weren't met in the product or service you bought
    3. by damage to a product delivered to your home, only to have the company tell you there's no way they can fix it
  • always speak up when something is not right, when you're not treated "right"

For the rest of us there is a Consumer Membership in CPAA!

When you sign up as a consumer member, you agree:
  • to abide by the Code of Standards and Ethics of CPAA, promising to carefully consider your purchases before you make them, follow through on commitments you make when you buy something on credit, and to follow CPAA's protocols for resolution if you are not satisfied by first contacting the business and giving them a chance to make things "right" for you.
We agree:
  • to provide you and your immediate family living at home with one free complaint per family each year
  • to provide you and your immediate family living at home with one free use of CPAA's dispute resolution process including arbitration per family each year
  • to provide you with a 20% discount on CPAA training materials and events
Although most of our members find that their situation is resolved before they even have to file a formal complaint, CPAA's protocols provide documentation which have been used by consumers to support actions in Small Claims Courts and in pursuing claims with other agencies.

The fee for membership in CPAA is only $29.95 for the first year...$19.95 for annual renewals. You may charge your membership to your credit card using the secure form below or send us your completed application with a check made out to CPAA to:
CPAA MemberServices, P.O. Box 271097, Fort Collins, CO 80524-1097.

CONSUMER PROTECTION ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA

CPA is a member organization that invites businesses and their customers to join together to change how business will be done into the 21st century. CPA gives members and others effective tools for communication and complaint resolution no matter where or when the transaction takes place. Whether you're a business or a consumer, when someone promises to provide you with a product or service, you deserve to get what you expect!

When you receive more than you expect...let the business know with CPA's Thank You! card. And, when you don't, use CPA's You Blew It! card. As a member, you receive copies of both to hand out in person...or, send them via e-mail using the links provided.

If you need to, file a complaint following CPA's guidelines and sample complaint letter. And, if the business still doesn't do the "right thing", you can file a formal complaint with CPA. We can even provide formal arbitration services if needed.
